Rosencrantz & Guildenstern

Pre Performance Tour (Odeon: Cardiff Bay)

I went to my first National Theatre Live screening last night.

Had wanted to attend one for ages!

A friend and I saw the classic Rosencrantz and Guidenstern Are Dead. The last time I saw it was many years ago – a couple of friends acting in a sixth form production.

Yesterday’s screening was excellent. Tight comic timing from Josh McGuire and Daniel Radcliffe as Guildenstern and Rosencrantz and David Haig embodied The Player superbly:

“We’re actors – we’re the opposite of people!”

Poetic lines and clever wordplay propelled the play to Shakespeare’s Hamlet’s tragic end. Always reminding us of the fragility of our lives on earth.

Being the first screening from The Old Vic and 50th anniversary of Tom Stoppard‘s play made it even more special!
