Waterloo Tea. Juliette Llewellyn 28.09.17
It’s National Poetry Day and I’m sitting in Waterloo Tea in Wyndham Arcade, Cardiff, where we hold our seasonal Incandescent meetings. I reflect on the sharing of words, friendship and experiences as participants have gathered over the years to read aloud and listen to published poems and lyrics.
I started Incandescent 9 years ago, as I wanted to share my love of poetry with others. I found it easier to hear poems read aloud, than to read alone. Concentration was limited but I could happily listen. Fortunately over the years I have found others who enjoy doing the same!
Reading, writing, listening too and performing poems and currently lyrics has brought me to a deeper understanding of my emotional make up. Poetry and lyrics have saved my sanity many times. Perhaps one day both will save yours too. Maybe they already have…
